Factors to Consider When Buying a Bike Light
Check for the Light’s Performance
Many bike lights offer different light modes and levels. Consider the different modes available and choose a light that offers the modes you need. You also need to look at the respective beam throws as well.
Evaluate the Beam Pattern
Different lights have different beam patterns, including narrow spots, wider floods, and combination beams. Consider the beam pattern that will work best for your riding needs.
Ease of Mounting
You don’t want your bike light to fall down after a few bumps. In addition, it’s always better to attach the light to the bike in many orientations by design. Some lights come with a bracket that attaches to your handlebars or helmet, while others attach to your bike’s frame.
So be sure to check the ease of mounting the light to your bicycle.
Double-Check for the Battery Life
An important factor to consider is how long a bike light lasts before it needs to be recharged or have the battery replaced. Look for lights with long battery life if you plan to do extended rides. Even if you had shorter rides, you wouldn’t want to recharge or replace the batteries often.
Durability Aspects
Bike lights can be exposed to rough terrain, rain, and other harsh conditions. So, choose a light that is durable and can withstand the elements. When you do, prioritize the products with an IP rating and a specific height of impact resistance, as those are the standards.
Size and Weight Compatibility
The size and weight of a bike light can affect how easy it is to carry and mount. Consider the size and weight of the light, especially if you’ll be carrying it in a backpack or other bag. Conversely, the heavier the light, the higher the chances for it to fall.
Cost
Bike lights come in a range of prices, from inexpensive to high-end.
Consider your budget and choose a light that offers the features you need without breaking the bank. But the golden rule is never to compromise quality for cost.
Rechargeable vs Disposable Batteries
Some bike lights use rechargeable batteries, while others use disposable batteries. Consider the pros and cons of each type and choose the one that works best for you. Additionally, check for the charging method as type C charging is the most popular.
Brand and Reviews
Look for bike light brands with a good reputation and positive reviews from other cyclists. This can give you an idea of the quality and performance of the light before you buy. For example, Olight has been the pioneer of flashlights in the United States for a long time.
Warranty Policy
Electronic items should never ever be bought without a warranty, no matter how amazing they are. In fact, all the most recognized flashlight manufacturers offer at least 6 month’s warranty. So, don’t buy that flashlight if it doesn’t come with a warranty.
Price, Warranty, And Refund Policy of Gotorch X
Right now, you can buy the Gotorch X mountain bike light for $149.99.
This bike light comes with a 5-year Olight warranty — that’s a big relief.
You also get 30 days to return the product from the date of order, just in case of a change of mind. Remember that the returned items must be in the same new condition WITH the original packaging.
Once you apply for a refund or replacement, Olight will send you a return label to return the item to Olight; there is no need to pay for the shipping cost.
Once your return is received, a refund or replacement will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original payment method. This takes about 2-5 business days.
But what if you purchased from third-party platforms within 30 days, everything happens via the original seller. Sounds annoying, doesn’t it?
That brings us to an important question — where should you buy the light from?
Where to Buy the Gotorch X?
You should always buy from the Official website; it could be either Olightstore.com or Olighworld.com, and for your convenience, here’s the link we bought from.
While there are more than enough legit 3rd party sellers, you shouldn’t take risks. In case something happens, it’s thousand times easier to deal with Olight itself over 3rd party sellers.
So, what sort of customer reviews does the Gotorch X bike light have?
Customer Reviews of Gotorch X
You can see how he likes the battery setup along with the lens. After all, these are Gotorch X’s signature selling points.
This review stresses how the Gotorch X is an update from the previous headlamp. But I’m pretty sure the operational instructions are clear and concise.
It’s the best mountain bike light they have ever used — what more can you ask for?
Our Experience With the Flashlight
As I said, we evaluated the performance of the flashlight firsthand. So, how was it for us?
When we first received the Olight Gotorch x mountain bike light, we were impressed by its compact and sturdy design.
The light felt solid in our hands, and the mount was easy to attach to our bikes. We were excited to try it out on our next night ride.
First of all, the build quality of this light is exceptional.
The premium aluminum alloy feels sturdy and durable, and the ergonomic design makes it easy to handle and mount onto our bikes.
Even on some rough terrain and bumpy trails, the light held up well and continued to perform flawlessly.
But the real standout feature of the Gotorch X is its brightness range. With two modes (high and low), we could easily switch between them using the jumbo switch, even with gloves on.
The high mode emitted a powerful 2000 lumens, which was ideal for navigating dark trails and technical sections. The low mode was brighter than we expected.
We were also impressed with the daytime running light feature, which emitted a noticeable 100 lumens that helped increase our visibility during the day.
It was particularly helpful when we were stopped on or near the trail and wanted to alert other trail users of our presence.
And if that wasn’t enough, the Gotorch X also doubles as an emergency power bank, with its USB-C port supporting 18W fast charging and discharging. That is really fast charging if you consider the competition.
Another thing we loved about the Olight Gotorch x is its durable construction. It is made from high-quality materials and feels solid in hand.
There was no way we would have concluded the Experience without sinking it in water. So we did that too — no problems whatsoever!
But as mentioned earlier, I personally noticed that the light does get hot at times. On top of that, the light didn’t mount well on 7/8’’ bike handles. However, it should be understood that the importance of daytime running light is heavily subjective.
To sum it up, it was a great experience, and we decided that the light works beyond expectations.
Is the Gotorch X Mountain Bike Light Worth it?
The short answer is YES; it is absolutely worth it.
We came to that decision following 3 stages: evaluating the features by numbers, looking at the customer testimonials, and finally, testing the flashlight by ourselves.
Not only that, it’s a steal for that price. Especially given that it’s an Olight flashlight, after all.
But remember that the performance experience can differ based on the placement of the light.
So, even if you’re completely satisfied with the light in a certain orientation, try out a few different orientations. You’re highly likely to get a better experience.

Over to You
Olight has impressed the community for a long time, and their Gotorch X exceeds expectations. If you’re looking for a reliable and bright bike light, then this is the most cost-effective solution — you can’t get 2000 lumens for that price.
After checking it out ourselves, we’re confident about its performance. The Outlighter team’s expectations are pretty high, and Gotorch X impressed us.
As a final note, remember not to buy it from a questionable third party, and you should be fine.
