Key Features of the E-CP

Dimensions and Build Quality

The build quality of the E-CP itself is one of the remarkable unique selling points of the flashlight.

For starters, the flashlight is made from A6061-T6 Aluminum, which is an incredibly durable material that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. This means that the Fenix E-CP is built to last and will be a reliable tool for years.

Maybe a family legacy.

In addition to the high-quality materials, the Fenix E-CP flashlight also features a premium-type HAIII hard-anodized surface. Its quality further rises thanks to the anti-abrasive finish.

The flashlight has the PERFECT dimensions for comfortable one-handed operation.

  • Length: 5.43″ (138mm)
  • Diameter: 1.1” (28mm)
  • Weight: 6.0 oz. (170g) including battery

The smooth octagonal cross-sectional shape of the E-CP makes it so special; I wonder if there is another flashlight in that same shape; not only this shape provides an ergonomic shape, but it also provides you with a comfortable grip.

Now, you’ll question the absence of knurling patterns on the surface. I’ll tell you how it actually feels when I talk about my experience with the flashlight. But for now, let’s just say it has a good grip, even with wet hands or gloves.

The tail stand capacity of the Fenix E-CP is admirable. In fact, this feature is seen in most high-performing flashlights. As you may know, this basically means that the flashlight can be placed on its tail and provide hands-free lighting.

This is quite useful for emergencies.

The cherry on top is the included lanyard that makes using the flashlight with just one hand easy. That’s another convenience factor.

While it’s true that Fenix E-CP doesn’t have a side clip like some other Fenix flashlights, it comes in blue and black. This gives you some options to choose from when it comes to integrating the flashlight into your style.

So, all things considered, the Fenix E-CP boats an amazing build quality.

User Interface

The user interface of the Fenix E-CP flashlight is simple and easy to use. With five different modes, including eco, low, medium, high, and turbo, this flashlight is a versatile tool for any situation.

The flashlight has only one switch as the tail cap is dedicated to the charging port; we’ll discuss that later.

Here’s how the user interface works.

Simply press and hold the switch for half a second to turn the flashlight on. To activate the strobe mode, press and hold for 1.2 seconds.

This feature is incredibly useful, as it prevents the flashlight from accidentally turning on in your pocket or bag.

Press and hold the switch when the flashlight is turned on so half a second will turn it off. To activate strobe mode, press and hold for 1.2 seconds. Single-clicking the switch will cycle through the different modes allowing you to choose the appropriate brightness level for your needs.

The Fenix E-CP as a mode memory feature that remembers the last moon you used, except for strobe mode, which is the industry standard. If you Turn the light off while it is in the turbo mode, It will rever to high mode.

Checking the battery status is also easy with the Fenix E-CP flashlight. With the light switch off, simply single-click the side switch to activate the battery level indicator, which will last for 5 seconds.

Four lights will indicate a battery level of 80-100%; three lights indicate 60-80%, and two lights mean the battery level is between 40% and 60%. One light indicates 20-40%, and one flashlight light indicates less than 20%.

The Fenix E-CP also has a lockout mode that can be activated by double-clicking the switch from the off position. This electronic lockout is necessary to prevent the flashlight from accidentally turning on — you know how annoying that can be.

That’s about the user interface. Let’s move to the lumen output.

Lumen Output

The lumen output is one of the most important features to consider when purchasing a Flashlight, and the E-CP does not disappoint.

Although Fenix did not provide the specific LED used in the E-CP, it is safe to say that it is a Luminus product based on the output figures and the beam’s appearance through the TIR optic.

The LED shines through the TIR optic, which is almost flush with the end of the octagonal tube, creating a smooth beam with a defined hotspot and minimal spill.

Let’s look at the mood variety.

Lumen output of the Fenix E-CP flashlight

In eco mode, it emits 3 lumens with 25cd light intensity, making it perfect for reading or navigating in the dark without disturbing night vision. After that comes the low mode with an output of 30 lumens with 270cd light intensity.

Naturally, 30 lumens is great for general use around the house or outdoors. You’ll be able to decide that when we discuss the runtime aspects in the next section.

After the low mode comes the medium mode, where the E-CP really starts to shine, emitting 150 lumens with 1200cd light intensity.

In the high mode, on the other hand, it emits 350 lumens. Its 2750cd intensity light is highly recommended for outdoor adventures or emergencies.

But the real star of the show is the turbo mode which emits an Incredible 1600 lumens with a staggering light intensity of 12400cd. This is more than enough to light up a large area of illuminating distant objects with ease.

So, it’s safe to say that the Fenix E-CP definitely has an impressive light output spec.

Battery, Runtime, and Recharging

Fenix E-CP’s built-in battery comes with a capacity of 5000mAh and provides ample power for the flashlight’s various modes.

The fact that it’s sealed is also a definite plus, as it adds to the overall durability and resilience of the flashlight.

Additionally, the battery supports several charging voltages, including 5V up to 2.4A, 9V up to 2A, and 12V up to 1.5A.

This means that you can charge the battery quickly and efficiently using various charging methods.

The different runtime figures of each mode are equally noteworthy.

Fenix E-CP flashlight is on charge

The eco mode has a peak runtime of nearly a great three weeks. This makes it an excellent choice for those who need a Flashlight that can last for extended periods without needing to be recharged.

Moving up to the low mode, you’ll get a runtime of 84 hours. This is still considerable time, making the E-CP a great choice for shorter camping trips or power outages.

The medium mode offers a runtime of 20 hours, making it a good option for extended use during outdoor activities such as hiking or night fishing.

If you need even more power, the high mode offers 8 hours 30 minutes runtime. This should be sufficient for most outdoor activities. It would have been a letdown if the high modes didn’t have at least a few hours.

Fenix E-CP’s turbo modes are admirable, with a 2 hours 30 minutes runtime. This is mainly because the turbo mode of competitor flashlights would only last a few minutes, some even less than one minute.

So, even if you need the maximum brightness, Fenix ensures that you get it for a long time.

Adhering to industry standards, the strobe mode of the Fenix E-CP doesn’t have a runtime. However, given the impressive runtimes of the other modes, it’s safe to assume that the strobe mode will last for a considerable amount of time as well.

What about rechargeability?

You get a Fenix USB-C charging cable for that, and it only takes about 2.5 hours to charge fully. You’ll get an idea about the realistic runtime when I tell you about my experience with the flashlight.

The cherry on top is the flashlight’s 18W fast-charging power bank mode. Fenix claims that you can charge an average Android phone to about 43% in under 30 minutes. I’ll tell you how it performed when I checked it.

Remember that you can always track the battery level thanks to the indicator that you finished reading under the user interface section.

As you can see, the Fenix E-CP is definitely one of the most impressive flashlights.

Beam Distance

There are some flashlight brands that aren’t very open about the beam distance of the respective brightness levels; Fenix E-CP is NOT one of them.

At the lowest eco mode, you get a satisfactory 10m (33ft) beam distance. Given the lumen output, this throw is still more than enough. After all, it uses Luminus LED.

Above the eco is the low mode, whose beam throws for more than three times the distance compared to the eco mode, 33m (108ft). The medium mode is more than twice the beam throw of the low mode, with a beam throw of 69m (226ft).

The high mode has a beam throw of 105m (344ft), which is definitely an exception given the lumen output. But seeing the beam throw off the turbo mode to be 222m (728ft) is a whole new story.

From the lowest mode’s 10m throw, this is a staggering 2120% increment, and that’s why Fenix E-CP is truly exceptional.

So, all things considered, the E-CP impresses you with its beam distance.

Resistance Against Impact, Water, and Temperature

The Fenix E-CP is built to last from premium and durable A6061-T6 aluminum, which is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio.

The type HAIII hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish further enhances the durability of the flashlight.

On top of that, you get the standardized IP68 waterproof rating which makes the flashlight dustproof too. That makes the E-CP very versatile and gives you peace of mind.

To further increase that protectiveness, the E-CP also has an impact resistance of 1m.

But Fenix doesn’t stop there.

Top flashlight brands always have patented features; at least one of them. For Fenix E-CP, it is the Intelligent Overheat Protection (IOP).

The IOP is designed to protect the flashlight from high surface temperatures, which can typically occur when using the flashlight at the highest output levels for extended periods. The technology ensures that the surface temperature never exceeds 60 degrees Celsius.

So, this is all about the features of the Fenix E-CP, and it draws a clear picture of a high-performing and dependable flashlight.

Customer Reviews on Fenix E-CP

You MUST know what the active and/or former customers say about a flashlight before you buy one. I did it too. Here’s a glimpse of the big picture.

Fenix E-CP Customer Review 1

Jeb points out a very important fact; you get what you pay for, and that’s important.

Fenix E-CP Customer Review 2

Who doesn’t like a great battery on a bright light? Aaron has noticed that, and it’s a relief.

Now, let me tell you how I felt.

My Experience With Fenix E-CP

To start off, I personally love how the flashlight feels on your palm. It’s very different from the conventional cylindrical shape, and it feels better. Although knurling patterns are absent, I found the octagonal cross section to replace the requirement.

The tail stand capacity is admirable but it goes without saying; the surface has to be flat. The only noticeable downside is the lack of a pocket clip.

The dimensions and the weight is fine, and I love the overall design quality.

The user interface is simple and easy to memorize. If I can remember that while remembering hundreds of others, you most certainly can do it. The mode memory is very useful, and I’m glad it doesn’t remember the strobe mode.

If you feel like you’d want to refresh your memory on the user interface after you buy your Fenix E-CP, I suggest you bookmark this page.

The battery level indicator works accurately, and you can clearly see the light — all good there.

The lumen outputs and the light’s overall brightness are EXCEPTIONAL. I’m guessing this is because of the high-quality Fenix LEDs. The turbo mode is borderline eye-blindingly bright and powerful. On the flip side, the eco mode still illuminates pretty impressively.

But I do know that it would have been better to have a 1-lumen or 0.5 lumens moonlight mode.

A human the Fenix E-CP light

The turbo mode’s runtime was 2 hours and 40 minutes for me. Although I didn’t time the low and eco modes, there’s a good chance of getting at least 10 minutes extra runtime for each mode. For me, the charging time was 2 hours and 22 minutes, and I found it excellent.

I own an Android similar to the one they used to test the power bank capability. Mine was charged 46% in 30 minutes — Fenix is being very honest.

As always, I didn’t check the impact resistance, but I dipped the E-CP in a bathtub, held it under my shower, and against the steam of the bidet shower. The result was amazing; the flashlight continues to work amazingly.

Although there are about two specific areas to improve, the Fenix E-CP brings a LOT of value for your investment — it’s more than worth it.

Price, Warranty, and Return Policy of Fenix E-CP

Fenix is one of the top flashlight brands in all of America and hence, all over the world. So, I initially expected this little beast to be at least $150.

To my surprise, it was just $59.95! Yes! No hidden costs at all.

And, as always, for that price tag, you get a limited lifetime warranty from Fenix Lighting. As you may already know, this basically means that you get unlimited servicing from Fenix for free.

FOR FREE — that’s right.

On top of that, you also get 15 days of a time period to return the flashlight too. If it was during holidays, then you get 30 days.

In other words, the Fenix E-CP is a risk-free investment.

So, now that you’re looking for the BEST place to buy it let me help you out.

Where to Buy the Fenix E-CP?

My prime advice always when it comes to branded flashlights like these is to buy from the official website.

By experience, I know that it eliminates ALL those chances of ending up with a low-quality flashlight that usually comes from third-party sellers. After all, it’d be in favor of you when they ask, “Dear customer, where did you buy it from?”

Additionally, you get 20% off from your first purchase when you subscribe to Fenix. So hey, that’s a smart shopping for you.
