Last Updated on November, 2024

Acebeam’s Pokelit 2AA is one of the special flashlights known for its value for the price. The problem is whether the flashlight deserves the hype.

I was wondering why the price was somewhat low because Pokelit is a reliable series. But as relatable as it sounds, I felt like there HAS to be something special since this is an Acebeam EDC flashlight.

That’s why I bought a unit and did an end-to-end first-hand test session; actually, multiple.

So, what did I find? To tell you that, let me take you through the internet’s BEST Pokelit 2AA review. Let’s hope for the best!

Key Features of Pokelit 2AA

Build Quality and Design

To start things off, this small flashlight is built to last with a premium aluminum rugged body. While it is very tough, this flashlight is lightweight, weighing only 3 ounces WITH batteries.

The flashlight is only 5.6 inches long with a diameter of just 0.68 inches. You can probably imagine the thin and long cylindrical shape with these numbers.

The shape is very ergonomic, and you can easily handle it with one hand with fairly smooth edges.

In addition, Acebeam features a unique knurling pattern that ensures a better grip. Needless to say, how important knurling is, especially when you’re wearing gloves.

The cherry on top is the two-way clip. This clip is strategically placed to ensure safe hooking to wherever you want it attached. The length of the clip is just right; this provides more comfort and safety in carrying.

Most importantly, the clip’s surface and edges are very smooth, ensuring that your precious clothes do not get damaged even in the tiniest bit.

But this is NOT a removable clip.

Acebeam also lets you choose this flashlight in two colors; forest green and black. Even the clip’s color palette changes for the two primary colors.

So, it’s safe to say that this everyday carry flashlight’s built quality and design are pretty impressive.

User Interface

The Pokelit 2AA features a forward-clicky tail switch, which is what the momentary-on mode is. But, on the flip side, you cannot change modes when the light (or the switch) is activated.

Remember that this flashlight runs in a simple two-mode interface.

Here’s how the user interface works.

  • When the flashlight is OFF

You can half-press the button for momentary on. But holding that half-pressing (without clicking) lets you switch between low and high.

You probably already knew the single click turns on the selected mode.

  • When the flashlight is ON

Press the switch half, and it does nothing when the flashlight is already on, and single clicking the switch turns it off.

What about the mode memory? Well, the Pokelit 2AA is a simple flashlight with only two modes.

So, it doesn’t have mode memory because it is not required; it’s easier and simple to always start from the low mode.

You’ll also see how the output gradually decreases as the battery drains. So, although the flashlight doesn’t have a battery level indicator, you can DEFINITELY know when it needs recharging.

But there is no low voltage protection.

The mechanical switch is intentionally positioned to minimize accidental activation, acting as the unofficial lockout function by design. In addition, the anti-slip tai switch allows no parasitic drain too.

These forward clicky switches are much more convenient to use.

The Acebeam Pokelit 2AA’s user interface is VERY simple, and even a 1-year-old could handle it easily. That’s level of operational convenience that Acebeam has provided.

Now, let’s look at the rechargeable battery and charging aspects.

High Mode – Low Mode Brightness Range.

Nobody likes too complicated flashlights anymore. While having multiple modes with impressive lumen outputs is beneficial, sometimes, less is more.

Acebeam has designed the Pokelit 2AA keeping that in mind, as the flashlight comes with two modes; high and low mode. There is no medium mode.

On top of that, the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA features a customized reflector. This allows the flashlight to produce an impressive beam profile with a defined broad spit and even output. It ultimately makes everything look clearer and makes your eyes feel better.

But what’s interesting is how the output depends on your battery type.

If you use a 14100 3.7V 1600mAh Acebeam customized Lithium-ion battery, the low output will emit 20 lumens. The high mode, in similar circumstances, has a max output of 600 lumens with a maximum beam distance of 101m.

But remember that the lumen output will be lowered to 360 lumens; mode spacing is impressive too.

This is when the light intensity is 2550cd.

You can also run the flashlight by using 2 Ni-Mh batteries.

In that case, the lower output is 0.5 lumens. If you wanted some industry-specific terminology, one could say this is a moonlight mode. The highest mode here emits only 300 lumens at max, but it can also be lowered to 100 or 50 lumens.

To give a quick recap, the peak output is 600 lumens, and the lowest is 0.5 lumens. This sort of range is typically not seen in regular low-brand-quality flashlights. The reason is that the circuit gets complicated because 0.5 lumens is a 97% drop from the peak 600 lumens output.

More details are in the user manual.

Light Quality

Acebeam is dedicated to providing quality light beams. That’s why the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA comes with an above-90 high CRI (color rendering index) value.

For a flashlight of this simple, this feature is a major flex.

This could be an ideal inspection light too.

The secret behind this performance is the Nichia 519A LEDs. These LEDs produce a 5000K neutral white which is the color temperature used by dentists, electricians, and engineers.

But why?

It’s because this light beam can reveal colors as they are.

Light Quality of Acebeam Pokelit 2AA

To give you a reference, sunlight has 100 CRI, and with light with 90+ CRI, the colors will be almost like those you’d see under the sun.

Battery and Charging Aspects

Acebeam Pokelit 2AA runs with either ONE 14100 3.7V 1600mAh Acebeam customized Lithium-ion rechargeable battery included or two NiMH batteries.

That’s why its specs sheet could be a teeny bit confusing at first glance.

This handy EDC flashlight runs for 23 hours at a stretch when running with the 14100 battery. The corresponding runtime for this battery’s maximum output of 600 lumens is 35 seconds.

But if you lower the output to 360 lumens, the runtime extends to 1 hour and 44 minutes (by the book, and I’ll tell you what I experienced in real life in a later section).

For such a small and simple flashlight, these numbers are impressive.

The cell (or two AA cells) is installed in the usual way – positive end toward the head.

So, what happens when you run these two modes with 2 NiMH AA batteries

A human charging a Acebeam Pokelit 2AA Battery

That’s when the low mode enables a very long runtime of 13.5 days with 0.5 lumens.

With the NiMH AA batteries, the high mode runs with 300 lumens and lasts 35 seconds.

But it runs for 5 hours and 13 minutes when the output drops to 100 lumens.

Acebeam Pokelit 2AA has the potential to run for almost two whole weeks.

It’s a big relief that the flashlight comes with a rechargeable battery that charges just 3 hours and 45 minutes by design. This is relatively slightly shorter than the typical 5 hours of charging time 1600mAh batteries take.

On top of that, you can charge this flashlight with a USB-C method. I highly advise you to use the cable that Acebeam provides as that ensures the safety of the flashlight better. I’ll tell you about the actual charging time when I share my experience of using the flashlight.

Let’s look at the next section keeping these features in our mind.

Resistance Against Dust and Water

People who buy flashlights from reputed flashlight brands like Acebeam expect a lot.

After all, Acebeam and its competitors always try to beat each other, and it’s you and I who get the benefits.

The resistance against dust and water in the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA is a classic example of this claim.

This fantastic flashlight comes with an IP68 rating. This means the Pokelit 2AA can be kept underwater for a depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes.

But 99% time, this protection is more than enough since some flashlights die the moment they fall into the water.

water drops on Acebeam Pokelit 2AA

On the flip side, the Pokelit 2AA is designed to be dustproof. Just as much as water, the long-term accumulation of dust particles can DESTROY even the most powerful flashlights. But it won’t happen with your Acebeam Pokelit 2AA too.

On top of all this, the flashlight also comes with a 1.5m impact resistance. Thanks to that, you can say goodbye to losing valuable flashlights after the first time they fell down to the floor.

Even if it falls to a rock and then to a pond, you can still use the flashlight safely.

Let me remind the superior premium-aluminum body construction of this flashlight. The combination of the design quality with the IP68 waterproof (and dustproof) rating with the impact resistance skyrockets the durability of the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA.

Customer Reviews

Let me show a glimpse of what the customers are saying.

Daniel elaborates on the convenience of using the Pokelit 2AA, and I agree; merely holding it feels so comfortable.

Kimberly, on the other hand, talks about its dual-battery options. This is a very valid point, as it’s a great backup option.

Acebeam Pokelit 2AA Customer Review 3

Rachel emphasizes the strength of the output and the main body. Bottomline is that 600 lumens for such a compact EDC light are impressive.

Next, I will explain MY EXPERIENCE with the flashlight; it was pretty interesting.

My Experience With the Pokelit 2AA

So, how do I feel about using the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA?

Before I start, let me tell you that all of these tests were performed with a fully charged included battery unless otherwise specified.

The first and foremost thing I notice is how amazing the flashlight fits on your palm. It almost feels like a mini-wand from Hogwarts that can read your mind. The weight is perfectly comfortable too.

The knurling pattern further complements this feeling. I held the flashlight with wet hands and gloves on, and the grip was amazing.

I checked the reliability of the pocket clip on denim trousers and silk-like shirt pockets. It was surprising to see that they didn’t leave damage, although they properly hung onto the fabric.

Being a fan of simple flashlights, I already knew the Pokelit 2AA would impress me — I didn’t expect it to blow my mind. I think it’s because of the premium LEDs that Acebeam uses because the light beam profile is PERFECT.

Absolutely perfect.

I tested the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA with the 1600mAh Acebeam customized Lithium-ion battery and the 2 NiMH batteries.

The 0.5 lumens light is bright enough for that number, and the 600 lumens output is STUNNING — it throws all the distance with a perfect beam profile.

This explains why Acebeam flashlights are so popular.

The bottom line is that the light produced by the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA in any mode is bright enough for darkness.

The runtime test of each mode was checked out with an effort of 5-10 minutes, except for the 600 lumens mode.

a human holding Acebeam Pokelit 2AA

I have to tell you that it’s been about 8 days since I charged mine, and it runs perfectly fine in the 0.5 lumen mode. It’s probably because I use it only sometimes.

Did I tell you about my experience with the user interface? I didn’t, did I?

So, the tactical forward-clicky switch DEFINITELY qualifies to be anti-slip. As I did with the grip, I tested the switch with wet hands and thick gloves; you can hold it very securely and comfortably.

No one wants to remove their gloves to operate a flashlight — Acebeam understood the assignment perfectly. On top of that, the user interface works pretty nicely, and that is definitely a relief.

Like I said earlier, using the Acebeam USB-C charging cable works pretty well. For me, it took about 3 h 50 min to charge it fully. This is why I believe the ambient temperature affects the charging speed of the flashlight.

Lastly, I wanted to verify all the resistance capacities.

If you have read one of my reviews previously, you know that I have no mercy in checking durability. This is mainly because the build quality and durability must be impressive. If not, it doesn’t matter how impressive the light is; the flashlight will break easily.

I first put the flashlight in my bathtub for about 20 minutes and turned it on, pulling it off the water. What happened? The light works perfectly fine.

Then I held it under the shower for a couple of minutes, and the light worked perfectly fine.

I also checked whether it was dustproof by dipping it in the sand.

Guess what happened? Nothing. Everything worked out perfectly fine, and the flashlight was in perfect shape. That’s why the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA is a classic example of a resilient EDC.

With all that said, there are some downsides you need to know. First, if you intend to use this light with just 2 AAs, the performance sacrifice is not worth it; the gap between lumens is something to consider.

I recommend you just use it with the included 14100 battery; with that inside, Pokelit is a different flashlight.

Second is the absence of low voltage protection. This can reduce the health of NiMH batteries if you use them until they’re completely drained.

Those are what I discovered with my hands-on with the Pokelit. Next, let’s talk about the price, warranty, and more.

Price, Warranty, And Refund Policy of Pokelit 2AA

I have repeatedly said this was a compact, lightweight, and simple flashlight. So, you wouldn’t want this to be expensive, isn’t it?

You’re 100% correct, my friend; the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA is only $39.90.

Acebeam builds flashlights with the highest quality, and YET you get 5 years of the complete warranty. Is that all? NO! You ALSO get a limited LIFETIME warranty which technically lets you repair the flashlight for FREE for the entire lifespan.

If you didn’t already know, the limited lifetime warranty basically means that you only have to pay for the replacement parts; there is no charge for labor.

In addition, you also get 15 days of the reasonable time period to return products. But remember that the flashlights are accepted only in their original state, new and unused. In addition, Acebeam refunds less than what you initially paid, as Acebeam pays for the shipping fees when they send it to you.

Remember to wait 3-5 business days until returns and exchanges are correctly processed. If it’s an exchange, you will receive an additional tracking number.

You’ll see multiple places to buy the flashlight from. So, from where should you buy it?

Where to Get the Pokelit 2AA From?

The official website. The official website. The official website.

I’m not saying ALL third-party sellers are selling low-quality copies of the Pokelit 2AA; I’m saying it’s a risk that you shouldn’t take.

Because Acebeam is more than eager to assist you if you cannot reach Acebeam through the dealer, it’s an unspoken truth that people who buy directly from the website are typically prioritized.

After all, there are no risks of buying from the official website at all.
